One target decides
the five steps that follow
This is a protocol paper, not a results paper: six steps from fetching one sequence to virtual cloning, written down with tool names and thresholds. This part covers only the first step.
Using the spike protein P0DTC2, 1273 amino acids, you learn to find the address, fetch the sequence, and check that what you fetched is right. You compute for yourself why 21563 to 25384 is 3822, and how that meshes with the paper's 3819.
Python runs right inside this page. There is nothing to install.
How you'll learn
Not a name but an accession number โ with its version, so the same bytes come back months later.
1273, 3819 and 3822 confirm one another. Any one of them must yield the other two.
Wrong species, wrong isoform and a stale version pass every format check. We learn to catch them anyway.
Every number here is a prediction. Lesson 20 draws the line between what can and cannot be said.
